Data Scientist

Pointer Technologies is seeking a skilled and innovative Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work at the intersection of data analysis, machine learning, and mission strategy to uncover insights, build predictive models, and help solve mission-critical problems.The ideal candidate is both technically competent and familiar with the national security and defense mission, capable of translating complex data into actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making. This person is diligent, works well with others, inspired to learn, driven by mission and practices effective communication.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze large, complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and insightsDevelop predictive and prescriptive models to address key mission challengesBuild, test, and deploy machine learning models and algorithmsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand mission objectives and translate them into data-driven solutionsCommunicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersDesign and implement data visualization dashboards to support real-time decision-makingResearch and stay updated on the latest advancements in data science and machine learningRequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related fieldProficiency in programming languages such as Python or RExperience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy)Solid understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling techniquesFamiliarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or PlotlyHands-on experience with SQL and working with large-scale databasesNice To HaveKnowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, or DatabricksFamiliarity with MLOps workflows and toolsStrong mission familiarity and ability to frame data-driven insights in the context of organizational goalsBackground in specific domains (e.g., marketing analytics, healthcare, finance)ClearanceTS/SCI clearance with polygraph requiredAbout UsPointer Technologies is Mission Forward and Employee Owned.We leverage talented engineers and effective technologies to drive success in our nation’s National Security and Intelligence missions.
