This clinic and partnership with Driscoll Children's Hospital will proudly care for an all adult patient population, which includes Driscoll healthcare workers and their dependents.The Nurse Educator role is a PART-TIME, 1 day a week position, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts working in the clinic, on a PRN basis. Shifts will always fall within the clinic hours of Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00am - 5:00pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00am - 6:00pm. No weekends, no 12 hour shifts and no major holidays! Whether helping manage chronic illnesses, assisting in lifestyle change, or offering a moment of encouragement, your work here will make a lasting impact.Why You'll Love Working HereTrue work/life balance - predictable weekday hours, no weekends or major holidaysMeaningful impact - be part of a team that sees each patient as a whole personSupportive culture - collaborative, mission-driven, and team-orientedWhat You'll Do:Provide individualized education to patients in the Healthy Living Academy program and through consultations (training in the program is included).Present the concept of successful management of body composition which consists of accountability of accurate food records, exercise which includes cardiovascular and strength training, getting enough sleep, managing stress levels, and education about nutrition and body composition.Present concepts of successful health management.Introduce nutrition lessons which enable participants to gain practical experience in evaluating foods and learn basic principles of nutrition.Provide individual nurse visits assessing the participant's progress, reviewing food records and answering questions.Document vitals, patient progress, and individualized plans of care using electronic medical records.Attendance is an essential job function.Provide nutrition education relevant to the dishes being prepared during cooking demonstration classesAssist with food preparation activities during cooking demonstration sessionsBachelor's Degree preferred but will accept Associate Degree or Hospital Diploma with equivalent experience.One to two years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experienceCurrent Registered Nurse License, TexasBLSAbility to perform venipuncture if needed at wellness examsAbility to document patient charts with test results, education, and other communication as neededAbility to answer patient questionsWritten and verbal communication skillsAttendance is an essential job requirementPreferred Skills:* Computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint* Food Servers Permit a plus
