Exam #26/70K23/03SS.Position DescriptionNatividad is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Cook position in the Dietary Department. Under general supervision, the incumbent will prepare large quantities of standard and nutritional meals for various clients (i.e. patients, employees, and visitors); may prepare meals for catered events; and performs other related duties as needed.The County of Monterey is committed to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and eligible military spouses and awards veterans’ preference points for this recruitment. To learn more about the eligibility requirements and the process, be sure to read the Hiring Preference for Veterans and Eligible Military Spouses section located towards the end of this job flier.Examples of DutiesSignificant Responsibilities Of This Position Follows standardized recipes to prepare food, including entrees, vegetable and side dishes for various clients May prepare appropriate nutritional meals for patients in accordance with a prescribed diet Prepares completed recipes for presentation and serving Replenishes hot food during meal periods Provides direction and instruction to subordinate kitchen staff to meet production requirements Performs sanitation duties according to established standards, procedures and regulations Assists with the receiving and storing of kitchen deliveries May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker as required Performs Food Service Worker duties as necessary Examples Of Experience/Education/TrainingTHE IDEAL CANDIDATEWill have proven track record demonstrating the following knowledge, skills and abilities:Working Knowledge Of The principles, procedures and equipment used in the storage, care, preparation, cooking and serving of food in large quantities Kitchen sanitation and safety measures used in the operation, cleaning and care of food, utensils, equipment, and work areas Skills And Ability To Prepare and serve both large and small quantities of food in accordance with standards of time, quality and waste Establish and maintain effective working relationships Keep accurate and timely records Adjust recipes to meet food production needs Examples Of Experience/Education/TrainingAny combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities and required conditions of employment listed above is qualifying.
