Responsibilities
As a Master Control Operator, you will be the quality control for all technical aspects of our news and sports programming. You will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more. As a member of the production team, you will collaborate with your colleagues to produce accurate, engaging, informative, and entertaining broadcasts in a fast‑paced environment that requires multitasking and vigilance.
Handling multiple projects at once
Working with the production team to keep your local community informed
Quality assessing all content before it airs for accuracy and relevance
Qualifications
Experience: Experience working in television news, 0‑2 years
Education: High School diploma
Technical skills: Advanced knowledge of broadcast equipment and technology, including standard and high‑definition operations, non‑linear edit systems, VTRs, server‑based recording/playback devices and related software applications, server networking and transfer technologies, broadcast routers, and intercom panels
Skills: Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology, including automated on‑air playout systems, newsroom editorial software, non‑linear editing systems, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, and router systems
Abilities: Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations, ability to multi‑task and adapt quickly to change, push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs
Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to breaking news or severe weather emergencies
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field, comparable television work experience preferred

Compensation
The base pay for this position generally is between $20.00 and $40.60. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and offer additional incentive‑based compensation such as bonuses.
