role is hybrid near Irvine ca
Base $165-$225k + 20% bonus
CPA required
Canadian Tax experience preferred
The Controller plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the company's internal controls, compliance, US & and international accounting, financial audits, tax responsibilities, and team leadership. The individual ensures the company's operations are efficient, compliant with global standards, and aligns with the strategic objectives of the organization.
What you will be doing:
Accounting Close:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow for multiple business units
Ensure efficient month end close process, balance sheet reconciliations and cash reconciliations
FX translation entries, consolidation entries and intercompany reconciliations
Ensure all accounting practices are in line with GAAP and company policies
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Develop and maintain internal controls and proper delegation of authority for accounting processes and procedures
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
Tax and Audit:
Coordinate activities with external auditors and manage the year end audit process
Oversee and manage the company's tax planning and compliance
Coordinate with external international tax advisors and consultants
Team Leadership:
Manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development
Mentor and develop a team of Accounting professionals to manage core functions within the department
Strategic Guidance:
Work closely with the EVP of Finance, CFO, and other executive team members to provide insights and recommendations based on the company’s financial status
Process Improvement:
Continuously review and recommend improvements to financial processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance
What type of skills are required:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
CPA is required
Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in a managerial accounting position
Experience with ERP system implementation (NetSuite preferred)
Tax, external audit and cross border accounting experience
Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence.
