Based in San Antonio, TX, we strive to create a positive impact within our community and beyond through innovation and dedication.Role DescriptionThe Safety Manager owns the development and execution of the organization’s safety program while supporting hands-on facility operations. This role serves as the primary authority on workplace safety, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and promoting a proactive culture of safety across the organization. This role partners closely with the Facilities Manager to support day-to-day facility activities such as maintenance coordination, vendor management, preventive maintenance, and facility initiatives—bridging strategic safety leadership with practical execution to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficiently operated environment. JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead and continuously improve the company-wide safety program; ensure full regulatory compliance (OSHA, state, local).Serve as the organization’s primary safety advisor by establishing safety KPIs, tracking performance metrics, and driving risk-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.Develop and deliver safety training, new hire orientation, and ongoing safety education initiatives.Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safety records, training documentation, and required compliance reporting.Lead emergency preparedness activities including drills, and on-site response planning; maintain CPR/First Aid/AED readiness.Conduct routine safety audits and compliance assessments; lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to reduce risk.Support daily facility operations, maintenance, and issue resolution.Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs; support PM program execution.Perform routine facility inspections to identify and address maintenance and safety risks.Manage vendors and small projects (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, janitorial, utilities).Monitor building systems and facility infrastructure to ensure operational reliability and efficiency.Maintain facility tools, equipment, and operational supply inventories.Support budget tracking, forecasting, and cost control initiatives related to facilities operations and maintenance.Partner with Facilities leadership on planning and capital improvements.Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Human Resources, and other departments to support operational and compliance objectives.Support internal, external, customer, OSHA, ISO 9001, and AS9100 audits as required.Provide guidance on safe work practices and reinforce a culture of accountability and safety.Demonstrate and embody our values: Be Limitless, Be Resilient, Be People Centered, Be a Team, and Be Trustworthy.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in safety, facilities, or manufacturing operations.Demonstrated experience owning or leading a safety program.Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance.Experience in manufacturing, government contracting, AbilityOne, or regulated production environments strongly preferred.Experience with preventive maintenance systems and facility operations.Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED (required).Professional safety certification (e.g., OSHA, ASP, CSP) preferred.Experience evaluating equipment and developing preventive maintenance plans.Ability to interpret management agreements and contract language.Experience with building management systems (BMS) monitoring and basic maintenance.Experience with financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for facilities operations.Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety/facility management systems.Electrical, HVAC, or plumbing technical certifications or licenses preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
