Position SummaryThe Chef de Cuisine (CDC) will lead kitchen operations, finalize and execute the opening menu, establish kitchen systems, and build a culture of accountability and consistency from day one. This role is both strategic and hands-on. The CDC will have 30/45 days prior to launch to solidify menu execution, operational systems, and kitchen readiness. The CDC will also partner with leadership to support apprentice onboarding and workforce training initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesMenu & Culinary Leadership Finalize opening menu within 30 days of hireDevelop standardized recipes, prep lists, and portion controlsEstablish quality and plating standards appropriate for a fast-casual, small-format spaceAdapt menu for operational efficiency and profitabilityOperations & Systems Build and implement kitchen SOPs (opening/closing, food safety, prep, service flow)Establish ordering, inventory, and waste control systemsEnsure compliance with ServSafe and local health department standardsLead daily service execution in a compact, high-efficiency environmentTeam Leadership & Training Train and supervise kitchen staff and assistant kitchen managerParticipate in apprentice onboarding in partnership with Workforce Development leadershipModel professionalism, accountability, and calm leadership under pressureCreate a culture rooted in standards, structure, and mentorshipQualificationsRequired 5+ years progressive kitchen leadership experienceExperience opening or significantly restructuring a kitchen programStrong systems-building ability (SOPs, costing, inventory, workflow)Demonstrated leadership and team development skillsServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)Preferred Experience in fast-casual or small-format, high-efficiency kitchensExperience working within mission-driven or community-centered organizationsExperience training entry-level or apprentice-level staffCompensation & BenefitsFull-time, salaried positionCompetitive salary based on experienceBenefits package availableOpportunity to shape a foundational culinary program from launchWho You AreYou are a builder.
