INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONALREPORTS TO: Principal and Lead Educator.POSITION OVERVIEW:The paraprofessional works closely with and under the direction and supervision of the designated lead educator(s) for the benefit of all students. The paraprofessional is evaluated by the building principal.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the Paraprofessional's assignment. An Instructional Paraprofessional may be assigned to one student, a group of students, or a large group in a general education setting or separate setting.Support classroom and specialized instruction by assisting students individually or in small groups.Proctor daily content area tests/quizzes as well as standardized tests including MCASProvide supervision, academic and behavioral support to studentsSupport classroom technology and individual students' use of assistive technologyImplement behavior plans as appropriateFoster student independence and encourage positive behaviors aligned with school-wide and classroom expectationsProvide coverage for Classroom/Special Education Teachers for meetingsPrepare materials and resources for educators or the special education departmentReinforce instruction, including previously taught concepts through guided practice and review activitiesImplement accommodations outlined in student plans (including IEPs, 504 plans or informal intervention plans)Communicate and consult with educators regarding student progress or concernsDocument students' progress both academically and behaviorally (data collection)Maintain student confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.Attend training sessions, meetings, or professional development activities as scheduled.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, Principal or his/her designeeQUALIFICATIONS-REQUIRED:High school diploma or GEDStrong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to follow directions from the principal and lead educatorAbility to work independentlyAbility to foster a positive, inclusive and safe school environmentAbility to work with students in a tutorial capacity necessaryCurrent authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:* Experience working with school-aged children, including students with disabilities.* College courses in child development and/or educationTERMS: This is a 10-month based on the school year.
