Floor Monitor and Maintenance Worker-New Covenant Center, Stamford, CT

The New Covenant Center (NCC), a program of Catholic Charities located in Stamford, CT, is seeking a full-time(35 hours/week), benefits-eligible Floor Monitor and Maintenance Worker. The incumbent is responsible for ensuringa safe and secure environment for staff, volunteers, and guests at our day shelter and meal service.Position OverviewKey duties include monitoring the exterior property and internal program services during meal service hours,engaging with houseguests, and promoting safety by ensuring guests adhere to Catholic Charities / New Covenant Centerpolicies and procedures. During off-hours between meals, the candidate will assist with the day-to-day maintenance,cleanliness, and appearance of the facility (offices, restrooms, exterior areas, kitchen, public areas, café,reception area, and hallways).Breakfast: 9:30 - 10:30 amLunch: 12:30 - 1:30 pmDinner: 4:30 - 5:30 pmNote - meal service hours are subject to change.Promote safety by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policies and procedures, and using de-escalation techniques when necessary.Enforce rules around behavior and personal safety.Monitor for signs of distress or conflict among guests.Record and report any accidents, injuries, or safety violations.May be required to take safety-related courses.Treat people with respect and dignity.Secure property by patrolling the grounds and identifying facility hazards.Perform other duties as assigned.Maintenance AccountabilitiesDiscard all trash.Wipe down tables after meals.Sweep and mop floors after meals.Clean bread carts.Ensure bathrooms are stocked with necessary supplies.Assist with food deliveries and clean-up of loading dock.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.Proven hands-on experience in a security and safety monitoring role (minimum three years).Registered security officer or retired police officer a plus.Skills and AbilitiesDependable with knowledge of basic security fundamentals and ability to follow instructions and execute safety procedures.Professional at all times, good judgment, strong surveillance skills, and ability to manage uncertainty and emotions.Alert and aware of surroundings at all times.Able to work under pressure and adapt to situations without notice.Consistently demonstrate integrity and honesty.Maintain adequate level of physical fitness.Strong teamwork skills and able to multi-task.Ability to lift and transport boxes up to 35 pounds.Qualifications and CharacteristicsPersonally committed to the mission, goals and objectives of Catholic Charities and New Covenant Center.Understanding and appreciation for the challenges of the disadvantaged.Enjoy people and unconditionally accept others as they are.How to ApplyCatholic Charities is an Equal Opportunity Employer.J-18808-Ljbffr
