Position Overview: We're seeking a dynamic Outside Sales Representative to drive our heavy equipment sales and rental business. This role is perfect for a motivated individual who thrives on building relationships and has a passion for heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, cold calling, and networking
Travel throughout assigned territories
Conduct on-site assessments to understand client needs and recommend appropriate equipment solutions
Provide expert advice on our range of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and more
Negotiate contracts and close deals for both equipment sales and rentals
Collaborate with our service and parts departments to ensure comprehensive client solutions
Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and new equipment technologies
Attend trade shows and industry events to represent Columbia Western Machinery
Maintain accurate records of sales activities
Qualifications:
1+ year of experience in outside sales, preferably in heavy equipment or related industries (construction, mining, forestry,agricultural)
Knowledge of heavy equipment applications and specifications (preferred but not required)
Strong negotiation and closing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory
Industry-Specific Skills:
Familiarity with equipment brands such as Hitachi,Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, or Volvo
Engine/Power Trains such as: Cummins, Isuzu
Understanding of equipment financing and leasing options
Awareness of emissions regulations and their impact on equipment choices
Familiarity with telematics and equipment monitoring systems
Understanding of equipment utilization rates and total cost of ownership concepts
