We're looking for a backend engineer with customer-facing experience to pioneer our Forward Deployed Engineering function. You'll build integrations between our Rails application and Fortune 500 procurement systems, while also contributing to core product development when not engaged with customers. This person will own end-to-end technical implementations, architect custom integrations, and transform how the world's largest enterprises approach procurement through Arkestro's predictive technology.
This is a founding role in a new function at Arkestro. You'll define how we scale technical deployments to 50+ Fortune 500 customers, build the playbooks future FDEs will use, directly influence product strategy based on what you see in the field, and establish yourself as the technical partner for enterprise procurement transformation.
Responsibilities
Own customer deployments end-to-end : Lead technical implementations from architecture design through production, serving as technical advisor and managing cross-functional teams to deliver on time
Build integrations at scale : Design and implement robust integrations between enterprise ERP systems and Arkestro's platform, handling complex procurement workflows and business logic
Deliver customer-specific features : Rapidly prototype and ship functionality that addresses unique enterprise requirements while building reusable patterns
Pioneer our deployment methodology : Create the playbooks, tools, and frameworks that will scale our technical deployments from 5 to 50+ Fortune 500 customers
Drive technical relationships : Serve as the primary technical point of contact, translating between business and technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (consulting, solutions engineering, or technical architecture)
3+ years integrating enterprise systems via APIs, REST, SOAP, and other protocols
5+ years building production backend services with Ruby on Rails
Strong understanding of SQL databases and ORMs (especially ActiveRecord)
Experience with enterprise ERP/procurement systems (SAP Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, GEP, etc.)
Excellent communication skills - able to translate between technical and business stakeholders
Track record of successful customer implementations
Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements
Strong project management skills with ability to juggle multiple customer implementations
Willing to travel 25-35% during peak implementation periods
Bonus Qualifications
Experience building production data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
Experience with Python for scripting and automation
Experience with procurement or supply chain domains
Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred) including serverless architectures
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
Knowledge of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design patterns
