Director of Transportation

POSITION PURPOSE:The Director of Transportation provides strategic leadership, planning and operational oversight for all institutional transportation services at Georgia Military College (GMC). This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive fleet and bus replacement strategy, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant transportation operations; and aligning transportation services with institutional priorities that support student success and campus operations. The Director directly supervises the Assistant Director of Transportation Operations and the Assistant Director or Transportation Maintenance and services as the primary institutional authority on transportation policy, planning and performance.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic transportation planning, including development and maintenance of a multi-year fleet and bus replacement planOversight of daily transportation operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service deliveryOversight of fleet maintenance, preventative maintenance programs, and repair/replacement decisionsBudget development and financial management for transportation operations and capital assetsCompliance, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives
