Supervisor, Operations
Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and logistics operations within a fast-paced third-party logistics (3PL) environment. This role ensures efficient execution of inbound, outbound, and inventory processes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. The Operations Supervisor leads a team of associates, drives performance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and returns
Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates to meet productivity and accuracy targets
Monitor workflow and staffing levels to ensure optimal labor utilization and schedule adherence
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA standards
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, order accuracy, on-time shipping, and inventory accuracy
Identify operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions in real time
Support inventory control processes including cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution
Collaborate with customer service and clients to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
Assist in workforce planning, including scheduling, attendance management, and performance evaluations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
3-5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, preferably in a 3PL environment
1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution processes
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Ability to analyze data and make informed operational decisions
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing operations for multiple clients in a 3PL setting
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
Work Environment
Fast-paced warehouse/distribution center environment
Exposure to moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
Requires strong attention to safety and operational detail
About the Role
How you will contribute
Plan, coordinate work, train, motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of team members; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials.
Monitor and measure team member performance for accuracy and document on daily production metrics.
Identify and eliminate safety and housekeeping hazards to minimize workplace accidents.
Ensure compliance of employees to processes, work instructions, standard work and work elements.
Liaise with materials department to ensure on time receipt and shipment of material.
Other duties as assigned.
Your Key Qualifications
HS Diploma/GED required
Experience supervising in an Automotive, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain/Logistics facility.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience and or training regarding the Occupational Health & Safety, 5S, Lean Methodologies preferred.
Quality systems knowledge - to a reasonable level be able to monitor staff performance and costs within the department (including, but not limited to: time-keeping, quality, productivity, etc.)
