Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Tooling / Manufacturing EngineerReports To: Chief Executive OfficerFLSA Status: ExemptLocation: Cuyahoga Falls, OHPosition SummaryResponsible for enhancing existing tooling designs and developing new tooling solutions, including mechanical part design, laser programming, die development, and technical support to customers and internal teams. This role ensures efficient production, cost optimization, and successful new product launches across multiple manufacturing sites.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & EngineeringDevelop and maintain 2D/3D die designs, parts, and blueprints (DXF, SolidWorks)Work with customers to convert 3D models into manufacturable 2D drawingsMaintain and update engineering documentation and controlled printsReview and approve new die designs with focus on error-proofingDevelop blanks for die and fabrication tryoutsProgramming & Manufacturing SupportWrite programs for laser cutting and CNC systems (Metalix / CNC KAD)Support production through die repair, press repair, and changeoversDevelop alternative manufacturing and cleaning methods to improve qualityCosting & QuotingPrepare cost estimates for new and existing projectsAnalyze tooling, outsourcing, and repair costsSubmit pricing adjustments for raw materials and production changesIdentify and implement cost-saving opportunitiesProject & Supplier ManagementManage tooling purchase orders, supplies, and vendor coordinationDevelop and onboard new suppliers with required documentation and toolingEnsure timely supplier payments and manage procurement trackingMaintain quote logs, BOMs, and QAD entries for new workCustomer & Quality InterfaceCollaborate with customer engineers on technical and fitment issuesSubmit PPAP, PPCN, RTS, and deviation documentationCoordinate PPAP meetings and ensure smooth launch processesMaintain customer die lists and technical portalsOperations & Launch SupportSupport prototype development and new product launchesCreate project timelines for new customer programsAssist in plant layout design and equipment relocation when neededTrack program progress and due dates using Excel systemsQualifications:Education:High School Diploma or GED requiredCollege degree preferred (Engineering or related field)Experience:Prior experience in tooling engineering or manufacturing engineering requiredSkills & Competencies:Strong understanding of mechanical design and tooling systemsProficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, DraftSight, and Metalix (preferred)Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.)Strong analytical and cost estimation abilitiesAbility to read and interpret engineering and financial documentsStrong communication and customer-facing skillsMathematical Ability:Ability to apply fractions, ratios, percentages, and engineering calculationsAdditional Requirements:Strong attention to detail and documentation controlAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesCross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, purchasing, and production teamsWillingness to perform related duties as assigned
