Piping - Apprentice
Responsible for learning the skills necessary to assist with piping installation and maintenance, daily quality control activities, following facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained and company policies are understood and followed under close and constant supervision.Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Learns trade from lead man and takes initiative in performing tasks. Serves and supports lead man in completing tasks at hand. Assists with attaching pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. Measures and marks pipes for cutting, threading and welding as directed. Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications using hand and power tools under close supervision. Removes and replaces worn components as directed. Keeps worksite clear and clean from debris and trash. Helps to keep shop and vehicles clean. Assists with paperwork involving basic math skills.Required Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.Competencies: Ability to communicate with internal team and customers. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to use hand and power tools.Work Environment: The noise level in the primary work environment is usually high and lighting may be poor. Required to work in non-air conditioned spaces, on roofs, on ladders, and with vertical lifting equipment. On occasion required to work in warehouse/plant environment or industrial environment and out of doors, includes but not limited to working near moving mechanical parts and/or rotating equipment, and loud noise or vibrations.
