The largest of Duke Health's four hospitals with 1062 patient beds, it features comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center, an endo-surgery center, and more.This position has a strong preference to experience within pediatric diagnostics.General Description of the Job ClassEvaluate hearing of patients with ear abnormalities and/or auditory disorders through case history, clinical observation and diagnostic tests of auditory function; plan and participate in habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with auditory disorders.Duties and Responsibilities of this LevelCLINICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIndependently maintains a clinical caseload in designated clinical areaProvides evidence-based evaluation and treatment to diverse, medically challenging patient populationsProvides quality service delivery techniques that facilitate optimum services to meet patient needs being sensitive to patients age, social, cultural, educational and vocational backgroundCompletes required documentation accurately and within the designated time frame which may include report writing, billing, and/ or professional education databaseWorks collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as with Division colleagues to promote best care of the patientParticipates in the peer review processParticipates in performance improvement initiatives within assigned work area under the supervision of Clinical CoordinatorTakes initiative to remain current in clinical practice through lectures, literature, and other educational opportunitiesOrganizes daily schedule to prioritize responsibilities including the integration of meetings, responsibilities, or tasks into schedule without negative impact on patient care or productivityMaintains confidentiality pertaining to patient care and all Division policies and proceduresKeeps Clinical Coordinator informed of activities, problems, and/or accomplishmentsFunctions in a self-directed manner and takes ownership to manage self and work including responsibility for actions and accountability for resultsMaintains professional demeanor and is responsible for quality care in all interactionsResponds promptly to communication (e.g., e-mail, pages and phone messages)Uses technology (e.g., computer skills) to meet job requirementsMaintains productivity standardsCompletes clinical privileges consistent with job responsibilities and personal development planPerforms duties/ tasks/ assignments as directed to support Division goals or needsMeets all PEP expectations and follows all Division policies and proceduresMeets and adheres to ASHA, state licensure board and Division clinical practice guidelinesSENIOR CLINICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to all duties and responsibilities of a Clinical Audiologist, a Senior Clinician is also responsible for the following:Creates a direct impact/change on clinical practice based on current literature, conference-based knowledge, and/or state of the art practice under the direction of Clinical CoordinatorServes as a clinical resource to colleagues and other medical professionalsAssists the Clinical Coordinator in building collaborative relationships and teamwork between colleagues and other professional staff within and external to DUHSProvides educational opportunities relevant to clinical practice which may include inservices, external presentations, lunch and learn, or support groups with the input of the Clinical CoordinatorObtains specialized training or certificationWhen requested, serves as a mentor for new staff, clinical fellows, students, or student observersWhen requested, provides opportunities for student observationUnder direction of Clinical Coordinator, assists in providing training to clinical staff in new or advanced skillsUnder direction of Clinical Coordinator , assists with new staff credentialing and/or orientation in specified clinical areaPerform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.Required Qualifications at this LevelEducationWork requires a Doctorate in Audiology or a Master's degree in Audiology.ExperienceNo experience required. 4th year AuD Externship/Residency is considered relevant clinical experience.Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification-- NC licensure as an Audiologist and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Board Certified in Audiology (ABOA) or; -- Temporary license (4th year Audiologist) in Audiology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
