Generator Technician

We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support a growing power generation company in the Norfolk, VA and Richmond, VA areas Position OffersUp to $40/hr. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply-we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.Overtime paid at 1.5x base rateComprehensive benefits including health, dental, life insurance, PTO, and 401K with company matchCompany-provided tools, laptop, phone, and service vehicleCompany-sponsored training, certifications, and long-term career growth ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel and natural gas generators ranging from 5kW to 5MWDiagnose and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), including bypass isolation and closed transition systemsTroubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems, control panels, and associated componentsConduct load bank testing and system performance checks to ensure proper operation and compliancePerform generator start-ups, commissioning, and warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelinesUtilize OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system issuesCommunicate clearly with customers, documenting service findings, recommendations, and job statusManage service documentation, scheduling, and inventory in a field-based environmentCollaborate with other technicians on large or complex projects as needed Requirements2+ years of experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators and electrical power systemsAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation independentlyGenerac certification preferredAssociate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferredComfortable working independently in a field-based role with travel and occasional overnight stays Application Process If your experience matches the description above, submit your resume, and one of our recruiters will be in touch to tell you more about the position and learn more about your experience and aspirations.
