We believe in teamwork, trust, and empowering our staff to make a difference every day.Position SummaryWe are seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Department. This role is essential in supporting patient care by ensuring accurate, efficient, and compassionate specimen collection and handling. The Phlebotomist reports to the Laboratory Manager and works closely with physicians and staff across both GVMS locations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and specimen collections according to established proceduresSchedule patients in person or by phone and answer patient inquiriesDirect patients to appropriate labs as required by their insuranceCommunicate with patients regarding Coumadin ordersLog, sort, and distribute test results from outside laboratoriesMail test results to external requesting physiciansPrepare and stamp requisitions, specimen materials, and information sheets for other labsOperate and navigate within the EMR system efficientlyRespond to messages via the EMR systemMaintain and restock supplies (tubes, bandages, reagents, etc.)Prepare supplies for the next day, including labeling hemoccult tubesPerform additional duties as assigned by the supervisorQualificationsCertification: Certification in Phlebotomy (preferred)Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office setting (preferred)Skills:Excellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesStrong customer service orientationComputer proficiency and strong typing skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to multitaskReliable, positive, and collaborative team playerWillingness to work at both GVMS locationsKnowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and compliance standardsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods, walk, sit, carry/lift up to 10 lbs., and perform tasks requiring manual dexterityProficiency in operating computers, fax machines, copiers, and telephonesAbility to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written)Must be able to work scheduled shifts reliablyExperience:Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Required)
