Development Operations EngineerOklahoma Data Exchange seeks a Development Operations Engineer to help optimize, secure, and scale our database, API, and web application infrastructure.Role OverviewReporting directly to the Lead Data Engineer, this role focuses on improving system reliability, observability, and security, while supporting ongoing application development and data initiatives. This will include assessing the appropriate level of self-hosting for our needs and implementing changes in collaboration with the engineering team.The ideal candidate for the DevOps Engineer position brings a strong background in cloud and self-hosted infrastructure, security best practices, open-source DevOps tooling, and is comfortable working across the full stack of modern infrastructure.Duties and ResponsibilitiesYou will help design, migrate, optimize, and maintain infrastructure components, including:Server ManagementServer and environment configuration and management, using tools such as NGINX, Puma, or similarImplementation of backups, redundancy, retention, and reliability best practicesApplication and infrastructure monitoringCloud and Self-Hosted InfrastructureDatabase architecture, setup, tuning, and optimizationDevelopment and implementation of self-hosted, virtualized, or dedicated environmentsHardware maintenance, including managing large storage arraysFile storage systemsContainers & DeploymentContainerization using DockerOrchestration and deployment using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm/Compose, Capistrano, and/or KamalProgramming & ScriptingBackground workers and job processing systemsScheduled tasks and batch processing at varying scalesSecurity & NetworkingAPI and database security hardeningImplementation of cybersecurity best practices and secure system designDevelop collaboration and security protocols for external partnersDatabase audit logging and compliance solutionsAutomation & ObservabilityAnomaly detection and alerting systemsAutomated database backups and disaster recovery workflowsLogging and monitoring for security, auditability, and troubleshootingInfrastructure-as-Code practices using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similarQualificationsExperience as a Development Operations Engineer, Data Engineer, or relevant role, with a minimum of 5 years of experienceProficiency in scripting languages like Linux bash/shellDemonstrated experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring and logging toolsFamiliarity with security best practices and implementationSolid understanding of both cloud and self-hosted infrastructureBenefits and CompensationStarting salary range for this position is $110,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experienceBenefits package that includes 100% of employee coverage for medical, dental, vision planRetirement savings plan with a safe harbor match at 5% of salaryFully remote work, stipend for work-from-home expenses, and flexible schedulesGenerous vacation leave and paid holidaysProfessional development opportunitiesJ-18808-Ljbffr
