Robotics Embedded Software Engineer
OverviewJoin a team developing the embedded software and test infrastructure that helps validate the next generation of autonomous robotic systems. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, perception, embedded software, and real-world experimentation. You'll contribute to a large-scale robotics testing environment where engineers evaluate autonomous behaviors, sensor performance, and safety-critical systems under realistic operating conditions. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you'll help prototype, test, and refine technologies long before they reach production.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain embedded software for robotics and autonomous systems.Build and enhance software used to integrate sensors, actuators, motors, and embedded hardware.Collaborate with robotics, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop and validate new concepts.Support testing and evaluation of perception systems using cameras, LiDAR, and other sensing technologies.Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.Troubleshoot and debug complex software and hardware interactions.Develop prototypes and experimental solutions in a fast-paced R&D environment.Author technical documentation and contribute to engineering best practices.Work independently while partnering with senior engineers on challenging technical problems.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.3+ years of software development experience.Programming experience in C, C++, or Rust.Experience developing software that interfaces directly with hardware.Understanding of embedded systems and real-time software concepts.Experience debugging complex software and system-level issues.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Rust.Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, perception, or safety-critical applications.Experience integrating cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, motors, or other sensors.Familiarity with microcontrollers and embedded platforms.Experience with Linux, RTOS, QNX, FreeRTOS, or similar environments.Exposure to ROS/ROS2.Experience working in prototype, research, or advanced development environments.Familiarity with GPU-based or edge-compute platforms.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of North Reading, MA.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
