Therapist
The Social Worker / Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive assessments, exceptional clinical care, and individualized aftercare planning for residents of Borden Cottage. This master’s-level (or higher) professional will demonstrate advanced expertise in evidence-based treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provides assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and high-quality, evidence-based care for an assigned caseload.
Utilizes evidence-based treatment interventions and maintains strong knowledge of addiction and co-occurring treatment approaches.
Demonstrates competence in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders.
Leads three therapy groups weekly, utilizing evidence-based materials and experiential methods to enhance engagement and group cohesion.
Develops and coordinates individualized treatment plans that meet all licensing and compliance standards.
Coordinates and oversees care delivery to ensure services meet each resident’s individual needs and, when appropriate, the needs of their family.
Serves as aftercare planner—collaborating with referral resources and maintaining communication with referral team members. Develops individualized aftercare plans and identifies appropriate post-discharge services to ensure continuity of care.
Ensures timely, thorough, and accurate completion of all clinical documentation, maintaining a high standard of compliance.
Promotes recovery-oriented, least-restrictive interventions that empower residents toward autonomy and lasting change.
Acts as a clinical resource for staff, contributing to ongoing professional development and the growth of the clinical team.
Participates in clinical supervision, case presentations, and continuous skill development.
Participates in the on-call rotation for clinical coverage, as determined by the Clinical Director.
Maintains a commitment to professional excellence through completion of mandatory trainings, active engagement in supervision, and pursuit of ongoing development goals.
Upholds patient confidentiality and represents Borden Cottage with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.

Performs other clinical or therapeutic duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Reports directly to the Clinical Director. Requirements
Master’s-level licensed clinician (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, Ph.D., Psy.D.) with experience or credentialing in addiction treatment (LADC, CCS preferred).
Must hold active licensure in the State of Maine.

Current CPR and First Aid certification (training available if needed).

Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize effectively.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to use electronic systems for clinical documentation and communication.
Working Conditions
This position operates within a residential treatment environment serving individuals with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.
Typical schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
On-call coverage required as determined by the Clinical Director.
