Ability to join a growing company with professional development opportunities.Position SummaryThe Manager, Facilities Maintenance, is responsible for leading maintenance operations while building and developing high-performing technical teams that support cGMP manufacturing, laboratory operations, and critical utility systems. This role combines people leadership with hands-on technical oversight to ensure safety, quality, reliability, compliance, and operational readiness across all facility systems. The Manager will develop and lead specialized teams across focused disciplines including Facilities Infrastructure & cGMP Support Systems, Wet/Dry Utilities, Electrical, General Facilities, and Manufacturing Equipment to ensure deep technical expertise and eliminate single points of failure.This position oversees all facility supporting infrastructure/ equipment required to maintain uninterrupted daily operations. Including and not limited to supporting utilities including (electrical systems / HVAC / medical grade air / gasses / liquid N2 / facility water systems general and manufacturing related MECO-WFI / Boilers / Chillers / Towers ). The Manager ensures equipment remains in a validated state while supporting continuous inspection readiness and uninterrupted cGMP manufacturing operations in compliance with applicable cGMP, FDA / EU, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local regulatory requirementsEssential FunctionsLead, supervise, and develop the maintenance technician team while building specialized technical capabilities across Facilities Infrastructure & GMP Support Systems, Wet/Dry Utilities, Electrical, and Manufacturing EquipmentEstablish technical training programs and qualification checklists for critical equipment and utilities; coordinate vendor-led and hands-on training to support knowledge retention and workforce developmentConduct performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning; assign tasks and monitor team performance against operational KPIsManage the hiring and training of new team members.Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex equipment failures, troubleshooting, and structured root cause investigationsManage planning and execution of maintenance work orders in coordination with planners, schedulers, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to minimize operational downtimeMaintain GMP manufacturing support systems and utility equipment including but not limited to HVAC / Facility / manufacturing water systemsSupport safe and compliant execution of reactive and preventive maintenance activities while driving reliability-centered maintenance strategies to improve asset performance and manufacturing continuityMonitor KPIs including uptime, PM compliance, backlog, and asset reliability; maintain critical spare parts strategies and equipment reliability documentationEnsure equipment remains in qualified & validated operational and maintain compliance with cGMP, OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirementsSupport validation activities, audits, and regulatory inspections; assist with site emergency response coordination and critical event escalation managementOversee capital improvement and infrastructure projects involving manufacturing, laboratory, and utility systems including Bioreactors, Chillers, Centrifuges, CTUs, and analytical equipmentManage vendor relationships, contractor activities, service agreements, and procurement support for maintenance operationsResponsible to partner with Engineering leadership to coordinate, plan and execute all facility shutdowns, annual routine system maintenance requirements and facility upgrades / repairsMonitor maintenance spending, labor utilization, and inventory controls to support efficient site operationsMaintain SOPs, work plans, maintenance documentation, and CMMS records within systems including VEEVA and BMRAMProvide off-hours leadership support for critical facility, utility, and manufacturing systems as requiredPerform ad-hoc and cross-functional duties and/or projects as assigned to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of progressive experience in Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, or related field required; ORHigh School Diploma with 12+ years of progressive experience in Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, or related field required.5+ years of experience supporting GMP manufacturing operations within FDA-regulated biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biologics, cell therapy, or related manufacturing environments required5+ years of maintenance experience is required.2+ years of experience in a leadership role is preferredExperience supporting commercial manufacturing operations preferredExperience supporting GMP manufacturing utilities, facilities infrastructure, and preventive maintenance programs requiredExperience with CMMS systems such as BMRAM, SAP PM, or equivalent requiredExperience supporting process and analytical equipment preferredExperience with plant design, commissioning, validation, automation systems, and capital projects preferredKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesProven leadership ability with strong coaching, mentoring, and technical team development skillsStrong mechanical, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and maintenance expertise within GMP manufacturing environmentsWorking knowledge of cGMPs, OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, HVAC systems, cleanrooms, utilities, and pharmaceutical manufacturing infrastructureAbility to interpret technical drawings including P&IDs and electrical schematicsUnderstanding reliability engineering, asset lifecycle management, root cause analysis, and failure prevention strategiesStrong decision-making and problem-solving skills in fast-paced operational environmentsExcellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skillsSelf-starter with strong sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvementWorking knowledge with PLCs, automation, building management systems, and process control systems.Working Environment / Physical EnvironmentThis position works on-site.Exposure to onsite in-lab environment.Must be able to don and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.Available to work off hours (weekends, holidays, after hours) to support company objectives.Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.Must be able to operate a fork lift and pallet jack to aid in equipment relocation.Must be able to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below.
