Early Full-Stack Engineer (AI Startup)Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite)Experience: 5+ yearsObjectiveSeeking a hands-on Full-Stack Engineer to join an early-stage AI startup and build customer-facing production software across the frontend, backend, and infrastructure. This is a high-ownership role working directly with founders and early customers to build and scale complex AI agent systems from product design through production.Must-Have Requirements5+ years of full-stack, backend, or software engineering experience.Prior startup experience building and operating customer-facing production software.Strong technical depth with demonstrated experience designing or rearchitecting complex production systems.Strong experience with Python, TypeScript, and React.Experience building backend services, APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.Strong PostgreSQL experience; Redis experience preferred.Experience with authentication/authorization, testing, deployment, and release automation.Experience with production reliability, observability, monitoring, and failure recovery.Experience building with or deploying AI applications/agents.Comfortable owning features end-to-end across frontend, backend, database, and production.Experience working directly with founders, customers, or end users.Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments with high ownership.Preferred TraitsStrong systems thinker who can demonstrate depth beyond simply knowing the right technologies.Has personally built complex systems from scratch and can clearly explain architecture decisions, tradeoffs, scale, and technical challenges.Product-minded engineer who cares about UX and customer outcomes, not just backend architecture.Comfortable using AI coding tools to significantly accelerate development while understanding their limitations.Independent, curious, and capable of moving quickly with limited process.Willing to challenge assumptions and propose simpler or better approaches.Comfortable wearing multiple hats and handling the unglamorous work required at an early-stage startup.
