Position Summary/Class DescriptionBRIEF DESCRIPTION: Under the immediate supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for the planning of swim meets and practices, promotion, operation and supervision of the swim team.Essential Duties And Responsibilities Accept responsibility for the physical safety and wellbeing of the participants. Inspect all areas used by the participants on a daily basis for potentially hazardous conditions. Maintain accurate attendance records. Maintain behavioral guidelines and discipline. Enforce all center rules and regulations. Communicate clearly and courteously with center staff, participants and parents as needed. Investigate and organize one to four meets for the swim team. Acquire volunteers for each meet. Hold time trials and seed each swimmer for each meet. Produce event cards for each swimmer. Plan and run practices. Set up and take down lane lines and other necessary equipment. Call and email participants as necessary to disseminate information or cancel practice in case of inclement weather. Order and pick up all necessary supplies and materials. Wear appropriate uniform/clothing. Attend all trainings and meets. Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Aquatics Coordinator or Facility Manager. Complete all necessary paperwork to include incident and accident reports.17 Coordinate pool usage with Aquatics Coordinator. Work weekends, evenings, holidays and swim meets. Other duties as assigned.Special Qualifications/SkillsMust possess CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.Howard County Pool Operator certification preferred.Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED and Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Possess good communication and leadership skills.Head Coach: Must be 18 years old.Must possess Safety Training for Swim Coaches Certification. Must possess Concussion Safety Certification. ExperienceMINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMust have minimum two (2) years of experience coaching swim teams.Previous experience in planning of swim team meets and practices, promotion, operation and supervision of swim teams.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.Rate Of PayContingent - Paraprofessional$16.50 - $22.00/ hour depending on experience.Additional InformationTO APPLY: You must complete an employment application online to be considered for this recruitment.
