Unless expressly defined in this job description, all terms have the same meaning as defined in the Employee Handbook.Job Summary:Under the direction of the Aquatics and Community Supervisor, the Special Events Assistant is responsible for both administrative and event day duties. The Special Events Assistant serves to support the Aquatics and Community Supervisor in the completion of duties encompassing the full spectrum of the event process including sponsorship and vendor management, patron services and as an event representative. Involvement in each of these duties will vary and will be directed by the Aquatics and Community Supervisor.Essential Functions:The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Special Events Assistant and should not be considered an all-inclusive list.A. Assists the Aquatics and Community Supervisor in set up, break-down, and operation of events from May-September; serves as the sole representative for Ken-Caryl Ranch at events when the Aquatics and Community Supervisor is not present; Events include but are not limited to outdoor concerts and festivals, movie events and aquatic events.B. Assists with sponsorship and vendor management, procuring event supplies, organizing, and categorizing materials, and marketing.C. Assists with weekly senior programming including but not limited to, confirming speakers, set up, and breakdown each week.D. Ability to take the lead on summer event planning, ensuring that vendors, contractors, and sponsors have everything they need and are set up for the day of the event.E. Enthusiastic about giving back, building new connections, and interacting with all walks of life.F. Consistently promotes a positive, professional image of the district and always provides excellent customer service.RequirementsRequired Experience:Must be at least 18 years of age.Experience managing events and/or programming.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of maintaining efficient event operationsReliable, natural problem solver, and make appropriate decisions in a high-energy environment.Ability to work a schedule that will include evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays as conditions or programming schedules might dictate. Must have the ability to be flexible and be able to adapt to changing daily schedules based on timelines and facility needs. Possess excellent communication and guest service skills.Be highly organized, and punctual, and demonstrate compassion and patience.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job.Working in a variety of locations and sometimes in challenging weather conditions.Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and goals of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District.Develop and maintain relationships with District employees, volunteers, sponsors, and the community.Special Requirements:Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and be insurable by the District's insurance carrier by maintaining an acceptable driving record.Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and can quickly learn other software.Work and Physical Requirements:This position requires work both in the office and in the field.OFFICE ENVIRONMENT: This position requires work in a variety of locations and conditions, including but not limited to the District's parks and recreational facilities, and other similar inside and outside work areas. A substantial portion of this position will involve sedentary, administrative work in an office environment.FIELD ENVIRONMENT:Working EnvironmentModerate physical activity will be required frequently.Work will be required outdoors in all weather conditions.Work may be required under hazardous and adverse conditions, including, but not limited to, slippery and uneven surfaces and proximity to moving mechanical equipment.Use of sensory activities, such as talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling (identifying objects by touch), depth perception, and color vision will be required frequently.Work will involve periods of high physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.Physical RequirementsHave the ability to lift, move, and carry objects more than fifty (50) pounds frequently.Have the ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, lift, squat, push, pull, crawl, jump, slide, climb, pinch, grip, reach overhead, reach away from the body, and perform repetitive motions.Be able to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed.Must be able to work on average 20-25 hours a week.Salary Description
