Project Control Lead
MAIN FUNCTIONSThe Project Controls Engineer (PCE) is responsible for establishing and executing project controls strategies by applying systems and processes related to cost estimating, budget management, progress tracking, scheduling, and change control.TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESDeliver accurate and timely data to support benchmarking efforts and development of internal toolsProvide leadership in cost management, scheduling, progress tracking, and change control activitiesSupport project teams with analysis, reporting, forecasting, and budget oversightDevelop and maintain project controls and change management plansEstablish and facilitate regular cost and schedule review processesCoordinate priorities across estimating, planning, and cost control functionsLead development and upkeep of cost structures, project budgets, and integrated schedulesOversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of cost and schedule data to assess project performance and identify risksAdminister the project change management processSupport continuous improvement initiatives by identifying efficiencies and risk areasCollaborate with finance teams on budgets, expenditures, and work progress trackingParticipate in bid reviews and contractor evaluations as neededAssist in developing contract budgets, schedules, and key milestone plansEnsure alignment of project controls activities with contract requirements and payment termsSupport preparation for key project approvals and funding milestonesCoordinate cost and schedule estimates for major project reviewsAssist in developing estimate documentation and planning materialsRespond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from project leadershipContribute to stakeholder presentations, including joint venture or partner updatesAssist with project closeout reporting and documentationMonitor contractor performance in cost control, scheduling, and progress measurementEnsure contractors are following agreed project controls processes and proceduresReview and validate contractor schedules, cost baselines, and forecastsEvaluate contractor-reported progress and change requestsSupport development and implementation of recovery plans when neededServe as a key liaison between project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholdersMaintain strong coordination across all project functionsDevelop project-specific controls execution plansProvide guidance and mentorship to junior project controls personnelEnsure alignment and approval of key project deliverablesPromote efficient project execution and cost-effective practicesSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related fieldProven experience in project controls with a focus on cost and schedule managementPrior leadership or supervisory experience preferredRelevant certifications (e.g., project management, scheduling, or cost engineering) are a plusWillingness to travel or relocate based on project needsFamiliarity with project management processes and industry best practicesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPointAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to drive improvements and adapt to changing project demands
