Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, act as a support division to the Southside ISD Police Department while providing safety and security for the students, faculty and employees of the district.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver' s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to record information
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to work at varied hours of day and night, including weekends
Ability to work well with youth and adults
Ability to pass alcohol/drug test
Have a clear criminal record background as verified by the State of Texas
Acceptable driving record as verified by the Texas Department of Public Safety annually

Major Responsibilities and Duties
General

Security and Parking
Reports to assigned area and promptly at the designated hour.
Performs specific duties assigned such as gate guard duty, security patrol of campus, or traffic control.
Remains on duty during the entire shift, unless otherwise authorized by supervisor.
Remains alert during entire shift and report all intruders or vandals without approaching and/or attempting to apprehend.
Assists police officers in directing traffic, including school buses during school hours.
Assists law enforcement personnel as needed.
Notifies on-duty police officer (or appropriate agency if none on-duty), fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
Gives directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors.
Reports
Prepares and submits all required reports on a timely basis, to include Incident Reports.
Other
Maintains confidentiality of all information received during the conduct of duties and responsibilities.
Ensures availability at varied hours and report as directed by supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Continuous walking and standing. Exposure to vehicle exhaust. Works outside and is exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather. May be subject to extreme physical acts of others (i.e., restraining students involved in altercations).
