Yard Manager

Purpose/ScopeThe Yard Manager is responsible for overall operations of the Precast Concrete Shipping Yard.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure safe yard operationsSchedule work hours for yard crewResponsible for the crane operators, ground crew, and Patch (Detail) CrewMaintain accurate and organized yard inventoryInterview, hire, and train all yard employeesMaintain weekly hours and picks to figure cost per square footInspect trucks at departure to ensure shipping accuracyMeasure yard and patch crew effectiveness and seek process improvementsEnsure timely deliveries to field crews - All jobs ready to ship with 100% on time delivery (Requires working with internal and external teams / customers)Manage Yard budget and control costsBasic QualificationsFive (5) years of shipping experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacityGood Supervisory / Management skillsGood Communication SkillsConflict management and problem-solving skillsProactive Approach and the Ability to Plan AheadPreferred QualificationsCollege or Technical degree/equivalent experiencePrior Precast Shipping Supervisory / Management ExperienceExperience using ERP system such as SAP, NetSuite, IFS, Microsoft Dynamics, Etc...Ability to Read BlueprintsExperience with precast yard equipment (Cranes, yard trucks, Hi Lo, etc..)Physical RequirementsPlant/Yard: Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projectionWork EnvironmentPlant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkwaysEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
