Project Management Intern
WHO WE ARE8G Construction is a commercial general contractor based in Waco, Texas, specializing in self-storage construction. We are early in our journey to become the go-to self-storage GC in Texas. The people we bring on now will shape what 8G becomes. We are a Christian company. Our faith is not a side note. It directs every decision we make: how we treat our clients, our subcontractors, our team, and how we handle the inevitable hard days in this industry. If you are looking for a place where faith and work are kept separate, this is not it. If you are looking for a place where they are integrated honestly and intentionally, keep reading. WHAT THIS INTERNSHIP ISThis is a ground-floor opportunity. You will work directly alongside our senior project manager and learn how to build commercial projects from the ground up. We do not expect you to know anything about construction on day one. We expect you to show up hungry to learn. If the fit is right at the end of the summer, this paid internship can convert to a full-time Project Manager role after you graduate. We are not hiring an intern to file paperwork. We are hiring someone we hope to grow into a long-term teammate.WHAT YOU WILL LEARNYou will be exposed to the full project lifecycle. By the end of the summer you will have hands-on experience with:■ Developing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors■ Reading construction plans and specifications■ Estimating jobs and putting together bid packages■ Coordinating subcontractors and managing schedules■ Running projects from preconstruction through closeout■ Communicating with owners, architects, and inspectors■ Site visits, walkthroughs, and field problem-solving■ The systems and processes that make 8G different than other construction companiesYou will not be doing this alone. You will shadow, then assist, then own pieces of work as you earn it.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORWe do not care what your major is. We do not care if you have ever set foot on a job site. We care about who you are and how you operate. You should be:■ A Go-getter. When you finish a task, you ask for the next one. When you do not know something, you figure it out, or ask someone that knows.■ Detail Oriented. "How you do anything is how you do everything". The way you write an email, organize a folder, or sweep a job site trailer says everything about how you will run a $3M project.■ Eager to Learn. You are humble about what you do not know and aggressive about closing the gap.■ Entrepreneurial. You think like an owner, not an employee. You see problems and bring solutions.■ Comfortable Outdoors. Texas summers are real. Job sites are hot, dusty, and loud. You need to be willing to be in that environment regularly.■ Aligned with our Faith. You want to work somewhere that takes Christian values seriously and applies them to how business gets done.REQUIREMENTS■ Currently pursuing a college degree (any major, any school)■ Living in or relocating to Waco for the summer■ Reliable transportation■ Able to work in office daily and travel to job sites■ Able to pass a standard background check and drug screen
