Lab Technician - 1st Shift

1st Shift 5:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday, Saturdays as needed Responsible for implementing daily food safety and quality evaluations and to monitor production parameters to ensure product meets customer specifications as well as ensuring proper ingredient supply is available at all times for continuous production needs. Position Responsibilities: Oversees that all aspects of the monitoring function of products are within the food safety and quality guidelines, as defined in company policy and customer specifications. Ensures that CCP monitoring equipment is calibrated, functioning properly and monitoring is being performed according to company policy. Ensures that Control Points such as Metal Detection and X-Ray are tested per company policies and procedures. Ensures proper recording of lot identification for ingredients, labels and finished product. Ensures unused labels and lot identifying materials that are not used are reconciled at the end of the production period for the particular lot. Enforces and follows company policies and procedures. Requests that appropriate materials are retrieved and staged for laboratory needs. Oversees production records during the manufacturing process. Requests service for laboratory and monitoring equipment as needed. Prepares proper ingredient formulations for production needs in a timely matter as not to disrupt production needs. Ensures that production foremen are aware of progress of evaluations for proper adjustment of manufacturing equipment parameters for food safety or quality issues if needed. Education/Experience/Capabilities Requirements Knowledgeable in basic good laboratory practices. Knowledgeable in basic management skills. Must be able to climb, bend, walk, and lift objects between up to 40 – 50 pounds. Must have good communication skills. Must have the ability to work in cross functional situations. Ability to travel for training purposes.
