CNC Tooling Coordinator
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARYThe CNC Tooling Coordinator is responsible for maintaining cutting tool inventory across two company locations. This role requires prior machining experience and a strong understanding of cutting tools used in CNC and manual machining environments. The ideal candidate will implement and manage a Min-Max inventory system, ensure tool availability to support production, and maintain accurate inventory records.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate daily operations of the tool crib at two locationsMaintain accurate inventory levels of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, gages, and related consumablesDevelop, implement, and maintain a Min-Max inventory system to ensure optimal stock levelsMonitor tool usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordinglyIssue, receive, and track tools and supplies to production personnelCoordinate tool transfers between locations as neededConduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventoriesCoordinate with purchasing to reorder tools and negotiate with vendorsResearch and recommend new tooling solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costSupport machinists with tooling selection and troubleshooting when requiredMaintain organization, labeling, and cleanliness of tool crib areasTrack tool performance and identify cost-saving opportunitiesDemonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and staff, collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES3+ years of machining experience (CNC preferred)Strong knowledge of cutting tools (carbide inserts, end mills, drills, taps, reamers, tool holders, etc.)Experience managing inventory in a manufacturing environmentProven experience setting up and maintaining a Min-Max inventory systemAbility to manage inventory across multiple locationsFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systemsStrong organizational and analytical skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel or similar tracking softwareAbility to lift up to 50 lbsPreferred qualifications:Previous experience as a Tool Crib Attendant or Tooling CoordinatorLean manufacturing or continuous improvement experienceExperience working with tooling vendors and outside sales representativesSkills and Competencies:Detail-oriented and highly organizedStrong communication skillsProblem-solving mindsetAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasksSelf-motivated and dependableEEO STATEMENTGranite State Manufacturing (GSM) is an equal opportunity employer.
