Lead Water Plant Operator "A" License Part-Time

City of Temple TerraceSTARTING SALARY: $35.00 - $38.26 per hourPOSITION: Lead Water Plant Operator Part-TimePOSITION NO: 7.121DEPT: UtilitiesThis is part-time supervisory work involving planning, organizing, and directing the daily operation, maintenance, and repairs of the City's municipal wells and treatment facilities. Responsibilities include supervision of subordinate employees, assisting in the preparation of the budget and monitoring of expenditures, procurement and management of supplies and services, and preparation and submittal of reports as required by City and regulatory agencies. This position may require the employee to be on-call for emergencies, and be required to work weekends, holidays, after hours and on-call duty.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and equipment used in advanced water treatment facilities.Considerable knowledge of safety regulations, precautions and occupational hazards, and the ability to promote safety among subordinates.Considerable knowledge of supervisory techniques and principles and practices of administration.Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedure of the Public Works Department and the City.Knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of the water plant equipment.Considerable skill in the operation of equipment used within the Division, as required.Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of subordinates.Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare clear and concise reports of plant operations and maintenance, and conduct basic laboratory tests.Considerable knowledge of material, tools, machinery, and equipment used to install, maintain, and repair water distribution and sewer collection systems components.Ability to physically perform assigned duties; perform heavy manual work in all weather conditions.Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lift objects up to 75 pounds and routinely lift up to 50 pounds overhead.Ability to utilize Microsoft Office; including E mail, records keeping, and purchasing/inventory programs.Training, Certification, and ExperienceGraduation from high school, supplemented by extensive course work in theories and principles of water treatment operations, maintenance, engineering, chemistry, or biology.
