Animal Care Specialist

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal husbandry, pet care, and veterinary assistance, with experience handling of dogs and cars. This role involves providing exceptional care to animals, supporting veterinary procedures, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both animals and staff. The Animal Care Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining the health and well-being of our animal patients while supporting the clinical team with essential tasks. Duties Provide daily care and supervision for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercise. Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Administer medications accurately following veterinary instructions, may include injections and oral treatments. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with clinical tasks. Maintain detailed records of animal health status, treatments, and behaviors. Assist with front desk responsibilities including client check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and client communication. Handle animals safely during transport within the facility or to external locations as needed. Ensure cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and equipment using aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Support emergency critical care procedures as required, demonstrating veterinary critical care experience. Maintain knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and relevant to animal care. Requirements Previous kennel experience or veterinary assistant experience preferred. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats. Knowledge of pet care practices, animal restraint techniques, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting animals or equipment safely. Certification or training in veterinary assisting or related fields is preferred but not required.
