Job Details (Subject To Funding Availability) Position Teacher Assigned "A" High School Computer Science Implementation Specialist (For Internal Candidates Only) (One Year Position) Location Division of the First Deputy Chancellor Office of Student Pathways, Itinerant, serving multiple schools Eligibility Requirements Licensed, appointed and tenured full-time New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Teacher Assigned with a minimum of three (3) years of Satisfactory ("S") or advance equivalent performance ratings, along with an exemplary record of attendance and punctuality. Selection Criteria Demonstrated knowledge of computer science curricula. Demonstrated ability to integrate computer science concepts across multiple subject areas. Willingness to travel as required to perform job duties. Demonstrated ability to plan, design, deliver, and evaluate professional learning opportunities. Highly organized, with an ability to work under pressure and meet frequent and sometimes changing deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of personal excellence, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt, and respond constructively to feedback. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with education personnel internal and external to NYCPS. Duties/Responsibilities: Work with teachers across all five boroughs to support high school computer science implementation through professional learning, office hours, curriculum development, and integration strategies. Collaborate with the Senior Director, 6-12 Computer Science Education Implementation, to identify district needs related to emerging technologies in the context of college and career readiness and K-12 integration, and to design support models. Collaborate with Senior Directors on the Computer Science and 21st Century Sills team to ensure alignment of emerging technology strategy. Work closely with the Computer Science and 21st Century Skills team, the Office of Student Pathways, NYCPS divisions, and industry partners to support implementation of emerging technology initiatives. Plan professional learning opportunities related to emerging technologies for NYCPS teachers, administrators, and district staff. Facilitate school-based strategic planning processes, including vision setting, goal development, program design, needs assessment, capacity building, and resource alignment to support computer science implementation. Support execution of budget allocations related to role responsibilities. Manage relationships with external partners and internal NYCPS offices to support school-based implementation efforts. Support citywide efforts to expand access to AP Computer Science Principles for a broader population of high school students. Manage documentation and dissemination of best practices. Oversee data collection to document implementation and support equitable access to computer science instruction across all student populations. Support research and policy analysis related to program design and impact in collaboration with the Pathways research team and external evaluators, including data collection, documentation of implementation, and preparation of reports on program outcomes. Collaborate with district and school leaders to provide guidance on citywide implementation requirements and ensure alignment with CS4All policies and practices. Conduct, facilitate, and manage presentations for a wide range of stakeholders, including NYCPS leadership, on program design, policy, and impact, and make recommendations to inform updates to current policies. Preferred Demonstrated expertise in at least one area of computer science (e.g., artificial intelligence, robotics, physical computing, web design, mobile app development, programming, data science). Experience implementing critical race theory, anti-racist education, social justice education, and culturally responsive-sustaining education in medium- to large-scale organizations. Practical experience working with a variety of programming languages. Strong belief in the importance of computer science education as a component of career-connected learning. Understanding of NYCPS school and central operations, as well as current computer science initiatives. Demonstrated experience developing and sustaining partnerships with business and higher education institutions to support systemwide implementation. Demonstrated ability to manage and administer large-scale programs. Hours As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement 9:00AM - 5:00PM Monday through Friday School Year (September 10, 2026, through June 28, 2027) plus five additional days during the winter, spring, or summer recess, pursuant to UFT contract, as mutually agreed upon with supervisor. The hours of service of a teacher-assigned shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week, exclusive of a daily thirty-minute lunch period. Flexibility for an earlier start or later finish to the workday may be permitted, subject to supervisor approval. Teacher-Assigned may apply for and, if selected, work up to 30 per session days during the summer vacation period, beginning July 2026.
