Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our dynamic research and development team. In this role, you will perform essential laboratory tasks, support scientific experiments, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice), and FDA regulations. Your expertise in laboratory procedures, analysis, and data collection will drive our innovative projects forward.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of plant-wide calibration systems and laboratory testing according to the QS9000 and American Association of Laboratory standards. Perform calibration on all gages requiring internal calibration. Maintain and perform minor repair on calipers, micrometers, and other hand tools (ANY OTHER TOOLS). Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine for dimensional verification of products.
Duties
Participate in pre-test meetings, setup and perform laboratory tests, preliminary analysis and summary of test results data, verify compliance with customer specifications and Valeo Work Instructions draft test reports for review by Test / Product Engineers
Develop and maintain plant wide calibration systems according to QS 9000 and American Association of Laboratory Accreditation standards.
Calibrate gauges designated for internal calibration.
Maintain and perform minor repairs on calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other small quality hand tools. Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine for dimensional verification of products.
Application of appropriate computer programs and data acquisition systems, perform program customizations as required.
Maintain documentation control (test requests, log sheets, pre-test inspection record, test data, test reports, etc.) Review, updating and generation of Laboratory Work Instructions as required.
Maintain proficiency in the operation of all Dimensional Lab equipment. Assist in dimension related problem solving as necessary, utilizing the proper methods and equipment.
Monitor functional lab test equipment for proper operation during off-shift hours.
Proper Sample Disposition (packaging and storage) per department guidelines.
Utilize appropriate Quality Tools (i.e. non-conformance, 5W2H, etc.) for identification of non-quality concerns and root cause investigation.
Develop and maintain appropriate level of knowledge of test & measurement equipment operation, including all safety and environmental precautions.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on test equipment.
Perform in-house calibration of equipment, as well as coordinate calibration with vendors, as required. In-house calibrations to be performed only by certified personnel.
Assist with equipment and lab supplies purchases.
Have a working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection techniques (CMM, Romer Arm, Laser Tracker, hand tools, etc.) including usage of Faro arm.
Accurate/timely reporting of TRS (machine uptime) to promote lab efficiency.
Daily recording of hours worked per program using company-standard software (ie. Cordys / PWA / EPM)
Requirements
Proven experience working in an industrial or research laboratory setting with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures
Knowledge of GLP, CGMP, FDA regulations, and quality control processes
Familiarity with microbiology, histology, molecular biology techniques, and veterinary terminology
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data tracking and management
Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex scientific data accurately
Excellent attention to detail combined with solid math skills for precise measurements and calculations
Ability to follow detailed protocols while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance
