Here, You Will Make An Impact ByLead the development of a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of 3M materials and products.Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to enable next-generation products via Multiphysics modeling and simulationDevelop molecular dynamics informed models of soft materials to guide formulators and engineers in identifying appropriate design spacesSupport simulation engagements with customersUnderstand, develop, and guide the establishment of new computational tools and systems.Initiate and contribute to the analysis and development of intellectual propertyYour Skills And ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Ph.D. degree (completed and verified prior to start) Two(2) years of post-doctoral experience in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry in a private, public, government or military environment Two (2) years of experience in computational chemistryOne (1) year of experience applying machine learning algorithms to material design spacesAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Experience with python or another programming languageExperience with coarse graining techniquesUnderstanding of high performance compute environmentSuccess in working on global teams, close collaboration with customers and capability to both lead and be a member of high-performance teams.Fundamental understanding of soft matter physics and mechanical behavior and polymer synthesis/structureLocation: On site in 3M Center - Maplewood MNTravel: May include
