Major Gifts Officer Position OverviewDawn Tyler Recruiting is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to be a key member of the Development Team for a small yet impactful nonprofit supporting children with chronic disease and their families. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying, soliciting, and cultivating major donors throughout Colorado and beyond. They will be responsible for growing the organization’s major donor base with a goal of raising $1 million per year with a portfolio of up to 125 donor relationships. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESManage a portfolio of approximately 100–125 major donor prospectsDevelop and execute strategies to engage, cultivate, solicit, retain, and re-engage lapsed donorsDesign and implement a comprehensive major gifts program. Generate gift strategies and proposals aligned with top fundraising priorities and strategic initiatives. Lead multimillion-dollar campaigns through campaign development and executionTravel for face-to-face cultivation and solicitation meetings with existing and prospective donorsResearch, identify, and solicit new donor prospects to expand donor pool across the nationMaintain accurate and thorough records in CRM and oversee moves management toolsWork collaboratively and provide regular updates to the development teamSupport the Executive Director in major donor meetings by providing customized giving opportunities to each donorKEY PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSMeet quarterly outreach activity goals and grow yearly fundraising goal to $1 million+ Raise significant institutional support for the network to sustain and grow, especially in new regions Execute private donor events successfully by meeting established fundraising and event goalsKEY QUALIFICATIONSRequired minimum of 5+ years of major gifts fundraising experience with demonstrated growth in yearly fundraising dollars receivedDesire to improve the lives of children with chronic disease and make a positive impact for their families and medical research.Proven ability to communicate value and close donor gifts over 6-digitsDemonstrated experience leading multimillion dollar campaigns Well versed in alternative donation methods (such as appreciated assets/securities, personal property, real estate, DAFs, etc.) and fluent in explaining options to donors Total personal alignment with our mission and vision and commitment to our core valuesOutgoing and relational; strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillsAbility to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and donorsExcellent written and oral communication and presentation abilitiesAdept in managing multiple projects and competing prioritiesHigh degree of organization and excellent use of systemsExperience with donor CRM, preferably Raiser’s EdgeAchievement-oriented, have a great deal of stamina to work hard, and take satisfaction from being productive.Ability to travel 50-75% of the time (including locally)This is a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 days per week in the office/meeting with donors.
