Job Description1ST SHIFT BUYER NEEDED - RICHMOND, VIRGINIAA Leading Manufacturing Company near Richmond, Virginia needs a Buyer. Qualified Candidates should have a minimum of 5 Years Purchasing Experience in a Manufacturing Plant Setting. A Bachelor's Degree along with a CPIM Certification is Preferred. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Buyer is responsible for performing various purchasing and planning duties to obtain supplies and raw materials in support of the production schedule. Works as part of cross-functional team to identify low-cost, high-quality, reliable sources of supply in support of strategic business objectives.Issue POs daily in response to various demand signals (Kanban, MRP, Min / Max)Expedite deliveries to ensure on-time delivery of components to the production lineWork with other departments to mitigate impact of changes in pricing and lead timesPartner with engineering to identify alternate materials if delivery would delay production or lead to an increase in excess inventoryMaintain professional company image and supplier relations through daily business communicationsUtilize ERP system to provide data on demand history and usage for use in negotiating contracts / quotes with suppliersProvide forecast of future demand to suppliers based upon historical demand, market / sales intelligence, and knowledge of engineering changesIssue debit memos to vendors on changes resulting from returned / rejected materialCalculate and maintain optimal inventory levels to support safety stock needed to absorb demand variation while supporting inventory turns objectivesSeasonally adjust purchase volumes to support business objectivesIdentify root cause of errors in material tracking processes, BOM accuracy, UOM conversions, etc. that contribute to supply chain defectsWork closely with finance and engineering to disposition E&O materialEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:A Minimum of 2 Years of Purchasing Experience in a Buyer's RoleA Bachelor s Degree or 5 Years of Relevant Experience RequiredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Intermediate: Excel; Basic: Word and PowerPoint)CPIM Certification PreferredLean Certification PreferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong quality and customer centric focus.TO APPLY:If you are a high performer and would like to work for an equally high performing company and you think the above opportunity is appropriate for you, we invite you to submit your resume in Microsoft Word format to: GHubbard@Venteon.comWe treat all resumes with strict confidentiality.
