Machine Shop Supervisor

Machine Shop Supervisor Litelab is an internationally renowned lighting manufacturer, specializing in custom museum-quality LED luminaires. Our mission is to empower visionaries and emerging talent in architecture and lighting design to create unique spaces by re-imagining the role that systems play in creating habitats and experiences. We currently have an immediate need for an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor The Machine Shop Supervisor will manage a team and coordinate the manufacture of Litelab products and components requiring a wide range of skills and techniques to successfully meet production and quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Manage all daily activities associated with the machine shop · Must be willing to help on the shop floor if needed · Reduce setup and machine time through continuous improvement and LEAN practices · Oversee equipment including working with maintenance on preventative maintenance and repairs. · Plans, schedules and coordinates daily activities to fulfill production needs efficiently, safely and on time. · Initiate and carry out continuous improvement projects to reduce operating costs. Make recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. · Mentor employees in the proper use of equipment and process, enforce safety regulations, assign tasks and oversee employee’s efficiency and quality of work. · Responsible for the development, implementation and tracking of a cross-training program and analysis of operator skill set to create a continuous learning program for skill enhancement. · Analyzes production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments. · Communicates, administers, and ensures compliance with company policies for safety, attendance, etc. and takes appropriate actions for violations. · Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Provides coaching and feedback to employees, addressing employee performance issues and conducting performance appraisals. · Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving production problems. · Responsible for long range planning to support the team and company vision. Requirements & Education: · 4-year degree or equivalent experience required in machine shop methods, must have supervisory experience. · Knowledge of the production schedule and the ability to use and revise that schedule to achieve production objectives. · Proficiency in MS Office and ERP Systems · Ability to lead groups in problems solving and process improvement. · Excellent machining and fabrication knowledge · Strong knowledge of CNC equipment and programming.
