Cashier Position at Home Hardware - VidaliaThe Cashier is responsible for providing prompt, courteous customer service while accurately processing sales transactions. This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers by maintaining a clean, organized checkout area and being knowledgeable about store policies and products.Key responsibilities include:Greeting customers and providing a friendly, helpful experience at checkoutOperating cash registers and handling cash, credit, and debit transactions accuratelyIssuing receipts, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with store policiesMaintaining cleanliness and organization of the front-end areaAssisting with stocking shelves near registers and monitoring inventory levelsAnswering basic product questions and directing customers to appropriate departments or staffReporting any issues with registers, pricing discrepancies, or customer concerns to the supervisorFollowing all safety and loss prevention proceduresSupporting the team with other duties as neededQualifications include:High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrior retail or cashier experience a plus, but not requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsBasic math and computer skillsAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50lbsDependable, punctual, and customer-service focusedWillingness to learn about hardware and home improvement productsMust be able to accurately count and distinguish denominations of money and maintain a high level of product knowledgeMust be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
