Reports To: HR Manager / Director of Human Resources
Position Summary
The HR Coordinator plays a key role in supporting daily human resources functions within a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication environment. This position is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration while also supporting plant operations such as timekeeping, uniforms, and front office coordination.
This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to effectively support a diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing
Manage and update job postings across various platforms
Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates
Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers
Assist with recruiting efforts, including job fairs and outreach initiatives
Maintain applicant tracking and candidate communication
Onboarding & Employee Integration
Coordinate and conduct new hire onboarding processes
Prepare onboarding materials and ensure completion of required documentation
Facilitate orientation sessions, including safety and company policies
Coordinate uniforms and necessary equipment for new hires
Benefits Administration
Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions
Support administration of health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
Coordinate and manage annual open enrollment process
Maintain accurate benefits records and compliance
Employee Support & HR Administration
Maintain and update employee files and records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
Prepare employee evaluations and track performance review schedules
Maintain HR documentation and ensure data accuracy
Assist with employee relations matters and HR inquiries
Track and maintain records for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) requests, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies
Support HR projects and initiatives
Timekeeping & Payroll Support
Assist with timecard review and corrections
Coordinate with supervisors to ensure accurate timekeeping
Support payroll processing by verifying hours worked
Reception & Office Support
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and incoming calls
Manage front desk operations and direct inquiries appropriately
Provide administrative support to HR and plant leadership
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
1–3 years of HR or administrative experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and benefits administration
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred or required, depending on business needs)
Work Environment
Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment
