Battery Wrecker Helper
I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to feed batteries to wrecker and to help in wrecker operations by processing material to make furnace feed.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Unloads batteries from trucks.
Be sure equipment accesses and man-doors are closed to maximize negative pressure.
Prepares roller conveyors in trucks to move batteries into the conveyor system.
Uses forklift to position batteries from trucks prior to conveyor system.
Assure that materials are properly stacked to prevent spills.
Cleans truck area, dock and sump areas.
Assure that equipment is thoroughly pressure washed to remove any residues and record the cleaning on trip ticket per NESHAPS SOP, and clean up any materials tracked outdoors by equipment.
Breaks up oversized and iron-clad batteries using cutting torch, pneumatic cutters, manually or with forklifts.
Use of hand tools to clean equipment and prep batteries prior to feeding into the Battery Wrecker System.
Use of Bailer
Other duties as assigned.
III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
Good verbal and written communication skills
Experience operating Forklift, Loader and Skid steer
HS Diploma or GED minimum
Valid US Driver’s License
Authorization to work in the United States

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
