Vice President of Safety - Infrastructure / Utilities / Construction - California, USGryphon Oakwood are representing a leading national infrastructure contractor seeking to appoint a Vice President of Safety to lead its enterprise-wide safety function. This is a key executive role overseeing safety across electrical utilities, civil construction, and energy infrastructure divisions, with responsibility for driving a consistent, high-performing safety culture across all operating entities.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership for all health & safety initiatives across the organization and its multiple operating entitiesDevelop and implement enterprise-wide safety policies, programs, and KPIs across electrical, construction, and infrastructure divisionsLead, mentor, and scale a team of regional and divisional safety leaders embedded within each sectorPartner closely with operations and executive leadership to embed safety into all business activitiesEnsure compliance with all applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA) across all entities and jurisdictionsOversee incident investigations and drive corrective and preventative actions company-wideUtilise data and analytics to monitor performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities across divisionsPromote a proactive, behaviour-based safety culture across all levels of the businessReport on safety performance and initiatives at executive and board levelQualifications12-15+ years of progressive safety leadership experience within construction, utilities, or infrastructureDemonstrated experience operating at a senior or executive level across multi-entity, multi-division organisationsStrong knowledge of regulatory standards and industry-specific safety practices (electrical, pipeline, heavy civil)Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving cultural change across diverse business unitsExperience building and developing high-performing safety teamsBachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or CIH are highly desirableIf this role is of interest, please reach out to isaac.merchant@gryphonoakwood.com for a confidential discussion or apply via the link above.
