The company focuses on delivering high-quality technology capabilities through experienced engineering teams, disciplined development practices, and strong technical collaboration.Red Arch Solutions is seeking an experienced backend engineer for a priority program supporting customers in the Annapolis Junction, Maryland area.About the RoleRed Arch Solutions is hiring a Principal Backend Software Engineer to join a priority engineering program in Annapolis Junction.In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain software components within an Agile software development environment. You will contribute to backend engineering, software quality, technical documentation, database development, cloud technologies, and automated testing.The ideal candidate brings extensive software engineering experience and strong technical proficiency with Java, C++, or Python, along with experience using Git, SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Jira, and Confluence.This is a hybrid telework position, with up to 16 hours of remote work per week depending on program tasking.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain high-quality backend software components.Build and test software using Java, C++, and/or Python.Develop and execute software test procedures to validate functionality and quality.Generate, review, and maintain clear software and technical documentation.Work within an Agile software development environment.Ensure quality control across newly developed and modified software.Design and implement solutions using relational databases, including PostgreSQL.Develop and optimize SQL queries and database interactions.Work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support software applications and infrastructure.Use Git for source-code management and collaborative development.Track development activities and project work using Jira and Confluence.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering planning.Troubleshoot software issues and implement reliable technical solutions.Collaborate with engineering teammates and stakeholders to deliver mission-critical capabilities.Apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.Contribute to continuous improvements in software quality, testing, documentation, and development processes.Required QualificationsActive TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus 20 years of software engineering experience on projects using similar software processes; or 24 years of total software engineering experience on comparable projects without a qualifying bachelor's degree.Extensive professional experience in software engineering and backend development.Experience developing and executing software test procedures.Experience creating and reviewing software and technical documentation.Professional experience working in an Agile software development environment.Experience with Jira and Confluence.Experience maintaining quality control for developed and modified software.Strong experience with Git and version control.Experience with one or more of Java, C++, or Python.Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.Strong knowledge of SQL.Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting mission-critical or government technology programs.Experience designing scalable backend architectures.Advanced experience with Java, C++, or Python development.Experience developing cloud-based backend applications using AWS.Strong database design and performance optimization experience.Experience implementing automated testing strategies.Experience with continuous integration and modern software development practices.Experience working on large, complex software systems.Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers.Experience working with highly regulated or security-sensitive environments.Benefits & PerksCompetitive salary of $220,000–$224,000 per year.100% employer-paid employee healthcare premiums through CareFirst Advantage Best in Class Benefits.HaloScripts concierge prescription medication service.Generous paid time off.10% 401(k) contribution with 6% match, vested from day one.Up to 4% profit-sharing contribution.Annualized bonus compensation.Spot bonuses recognizing exceptional performance and contributions.Tuition reimbursement.529 College Savings Plan.College Loan Pay Back Program.11 paid federal holidays.Generous employee referral bonuses.Hybrid telework flexibility, subject to program requirements.Work Arrangement & Security RequirementsThis position is based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland and operates under a hybrid telework model.Employees may work remotely for up to 16 hours per week, depending on program tasking and operational requirements.An active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is mandatory for this position.Equal Opportunity StatementRed Arch Solutions provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
