About Us We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead all financial operations for a growing, multi-location specialty dental practice in the Pittsburgh area. This is a high-impact leadership role that goes beyond traditional accounting. The Controller will serve as a key business partner to the executive team and ownership- driving financial visibility, improving profitability, and building scalable systems to support continued growth. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational insight, leadership capability, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Manage and oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations  Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting  Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, establishing discipline and consistency  Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements  Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis Lead the annual and ongoing financial forecasting process Monitor performance against budget and provide clear, actionable variance analysis  Deliver insights to support strategic planning, pricing, and investment decisions  Revenue Cycle Optimization Partner with operations to increase collections, improve cash flow, and reduce revenue leakage  Monitor key metrics such as AR aging, collection rates, and production trends  Internal Controls & Compliance Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity  Establish cost controls across vendors, supplies, and operational spending  Coordinate with external accountants on tax preparation and financial reviews  Ensure compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-specific regulations  Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and administrative staff  Establish clear processes, timelines, and accountability within the finance function  Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, and clinical leadership  Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement  Systems, Process Improvement & Scalability Evaluate and improve financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes  Implement scalable infrastructure to support multi-location growth  Leverage technology to increase efficiency, accuracy, and visibility  Strategic & Operational Support Partner with executive team and ownership on growth initiatives, capital investments, and expansion opportunities  Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs), including production per provider, EBITDA, and operating margins  Build dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decision-making  Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred)  7–12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibility  Experience in multi-location healthcare, dental, or service-based organizations strongly preferred  Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls  Experience with accounting systems and practice management software  Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills   Key Competencies Strategic thinker with the ability to execute at a detailed level Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail  Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders  Proven ability to lead teams and drive accountability  Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $115,000 – $140,000 (commensurate with experience)  Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance  401k Retirement plan Paid time off  Employee Assistance Program  Why Join Us Growing, multi-location specialty practice with strong momentum  Direct partnership with executive team and ownership and meaningful influence on business decisions  Opportunity to build and scale the finance function  Collaborative, team-oriented culture with long-term growth potential  Impact of the Role This role will directly influence the financial health and scalability of the organization by improving visibility, strengthening operational discipline, and driving profitability across all locations. Success in the First 90 Days Gain full understanding of financials, systems, and revenue cycle processes  Establish consistent and timely monthly reporting  Identify key opportunities for margin and cash flow improvement  Build strong working relationships with leadership and operational teams
