Material Handler

Brief DescriptionThe material handler is responsible for all aspects of conveying and packaging product; mixing additive required on certain products; hand loading and dumping various raw materials. Responsible for quality, safety, and housekeeping.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:00 pmResponsibilitiesSupport material flow to ensure efficient warehouse and production operationsIdentify difference between final packagingProperly make up boxesSample boxes and mark samples properlyMonitor in-feed and out-feed conveyors and ensure proper movement of boxesAssist with staging and preparation of raw materials for production and shippingOperate the material hoistHand load additives in AT01 batchesUpdate records on silosKeep up with levels of product in all holding tanks usedMaintains production material storage area, including recording material transactions in inventory records and properly storing itemsMaintains order and accuracy in material handling areasPerform all required machine cleaningDocument work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methodsFollows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulationsMaintains departmental housekeeping standards.Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.RequirementsSkills and AbilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement manner environmentMust be able to operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality productionMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shiftAbility to safely drive a forkliftRead and follow manuals and proceduresMaintain a clean and safe workspaceMust be dependable and have excellent attendancePossess a positive attitudeMust be willing and able to work overtime as needed, up to every other weekendWilling and able to work in temperature extremes - hot and coldMust be able to pass a forklift test and a respirator fit testAttendance is an essential function of the positionMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishEducation And ExperiencePreferred high school diploma or equivalentPreferred forklift experiencePreferred previous manufacturing experience Physical Requirements And Working ConditionsCONTACTS: Internal - Continuously (67 - 100%) External - Rarely (1 - 5%) Contacts involve giving or exchanging information of a limited controversial nature.RegularlyStand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlUse hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, including overhead workingTalk and hear to coordinate and operate equipmentUse of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)Exposure to moving mechanical partsFrequentlyLift and/or move up to 50 poundsClimb ladders and stairsWork in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles.OccasionallySitHandle (with mechanical equipment) up to 2500 poundsExposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protectionOtherSpecific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Standard warehouse and production environment.
