DEPARTMENT: Admission and EnrollmentJOB TITLE: Nursing Admissions CounselorREPORTS TO: Director of Student RecruitmentFLSA STATUS: ExemptSummaryUnder the supervision of the Director of Student Recruitment the Nursing Admissions Counselor is responsible for generating applications and nurturing applicants to enrollment. The Nursing Admissions Counselor works to achieve goals by nurturing relationships with prospective students and their families, representing the College at on and off campus events, and ensuring efficient and timely execution of processes necessary to admit and enroll Nursing applicants. This position will provide information and assistance to prospective nursing students in all cohorts as they navigate various processes associated with admission, student records, registration, advising and financial aid. The person in this position works closely with and is responsible for effective communication between the department of nursing, admission, the registrar’s office, academic advising, student life, and the business office as it relates to enrollment services. Responsibilities also include advising on the effectiveness of admission and/or enrollment processes, monitoring and reporting admission data, supporting departmental orientation programs, and implementing quality improvement as needed/directed.Duties And Responsibilities Manage the recruitment effort for transfer, traditional, and accelerated track (AT) nursing program candidates including but not limited to prospect management, outreach, recruitment travel, constituent relations, application review, and admission decisions.Execute contact strategies to nurture student inquiries and applicants to first time enrollment and manage the assigned applicant portfolio to achieve annual targets for new student enrollment.Maintain accurate recruitment forecasting reports for Accelerated Track Nursing.Cultivate relationships with prospective students through extensive phone contact, email, personal interviews and campus visits.Schedule and conduct formal interviews as required for transfer, traditional, and accelerated track (AT) nursing program candidatesCollaborate with the Nursing Program Director to efficiently process application files and admission decisionsReview application materials, schedule entrance exams as necessary, and facilitate enrollment processes for incoming nursing students as needed.Work with Admission Data Team to create efficient processes for all documentation: application, transcripts, and supplemental forms and ensure all Admission activity is accurately recorded in the admission CRM.Act as a liaison for students admitted to the program (including traditional, transfer and AT-nursing students) during the period prior to starting the program, to include the maintenance of pre-requisite course requirements and verifying completion of those courses and other required admission criteria (e.g., background checks and drug screening results)Supports orientation programs for all cohorts of nursing students as directed by the Nursing Program Director and Director of Student Recruitment.Represent the program at local community college fairs and health care agency fairs when needed or as appropriate.Collaborate with the Program of Nursing Student Academic Advisors to manage the individual and group meetings for candidates. Meets regularly for updates with the Nursing Program Director and Admission and Progression Committee of the Department of Nursing; attends Nursing Program Faculty meetings; attends nursing standing committee meetings as requested.Provide a friendly and professional atmosphere for all students, faculty and visitors in the Program of Nursing promoting the Mission, Vision and Values of William Jewell College in daily activities.Update and maintain nursing department web content in coordination with the Marketing and Admission Offices including regular maintenance of nursing applications, supplement guides, and curriculum guides.Other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities Bachelor’s degree Demonstrated interpersonal skills with students and health care professionals Experience in recruitment and admission Ability to function in a flexible, student-centered environment Ability to plan, organize and meet established deadlines Ability to maintain admission data systems Basic knowledge and ability with Microsoft Outlook and Office products Able to lift 20 poundsWorking Conditions Normal working/office hours required, and position may entail long hours during parts of the academic year based upon key periods within the admission cycle.
