POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking an energetic, organized, and customer-focused Kids Gym Manager to oversee the daily operations of a boutique children’s gym in NYC. This role blends operations management, customer experience, staff leadership and hands-on program delivery. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring an exceptional experience for families while maintaining a safe, clean and engaging environment for children.The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, thrives in a hands-on small business environment and is comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with leading classes and camps on the gym floor.This role also includes overseeing alternative preschool programs, after-school enrichment programs, and holiday and summer camps, with a focus on boosting registration, program quality and client retention.RESPONSIBILITIESGym Operations:Oversee the daily operations of the gym, ensuring programs run smoothly and efficientlyOpen and close the facility (Monday through Friday)Maintain a safe, organized and clean environment for children, families and staff (lobby, classrooms, gym and bathrooms)Client ExperienceWelcome families, kids and their adults into the spaceManage check in and check out proceduresAnswer phone calls and direct clients to the right resourcesSupport membership growth and retention initiativesHandle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally, alerting management when necessaryProgramming & InstructionLead kids gym classes, camps, alternative-preschool and after-school programsEnsure programming is fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriateHelp design and improve class formats, seasonal programs, and alternative preschool curriculumOversee holiday and summer camps, ensuring high enrollment and quality programmingTrain staff to deliver high-quality instruction across all programsStaff ManagementWork directly with management to assist with staffing needs (recruiting, training and managing)Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and performance oversight to management (you are the eyes on the ground!)Ensure proper staff coverage for all programs and eventsFoster a positive and collaborative team cultureFacility Maintenance & CleanlinessMaintain daily cleaning protocols for equipment, gym, classrooms and common spacesEnsure the studio is presentable and organized at all timesAlert management if more cleaning supplies are needed (toilet paper, office materials, etc.)Must be ok vacuuming and light cleaning around the facilityAdministrative & Business SupportWork directly with ownership/management on studio performance and growthHelp implement marketing initiatives and promotionsCreate and distribute weekly newsletters to families to share updates, schedules, events and program highlightsLightly post on social media accounts with program pictures, schedules and upcoming eventsManage inventory for merchandise or retail itemsProvide feedback on improving gym operationsSCHEDULEMarch 15 – September 15: Monday through FridaySeptember 16 – March 14: Four weekdays + one weekend day (specific days to be discussed and mutually agreed upon)QUALIFICATIONS2–4+ years of experience in kids gym management, childcare, education, or hospitalityExperience working with children and familiesStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent customer service and communication abilitiesHighly organized with strong problem-solving skillsComfortable leading group activities or classes for childrenAbility to work weekends and occasional eveningsExperience using online tools like Canva, Constant Contact, and social media platforms to create newsletters, marketing materials and promote programs/enrollmentFlexible and team-focused: willing to do all tasks, from teaching classes to cleaning and administrative work, with a hands-on, no-ego attitudeCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Preferred:Background in early childhood education, youth fitness, gymnastics or recreationExperience managing a small teamFamiliarity with scheduling or membership software and comfortable using online systemsAbility to use email and phones as communication methods with staff, management and clients
