Sr. Java Engineer (AI-Driven Development)

Hybrid role in Durham, NC - Hiring for Sr. Java Engineer (AI-Driven Development) - 6 months contract We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer with 12+ years of experience who has strong hands-on Java development skills and has worked on large enterprise applications.This is not a regular Java Developer role. The client is specifically looking for someone who is comfortable using AI-powered development tools and understands how AI is being used in software engineering.Must-Have Skills:12+ years of Java development experience.Experience using Agentic IDEs like Claude Code or Cursor for leveraging AI for enterprise application development.Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and event-driven architecture.Hands-on experience with Kafka, AWS SQS, or IBM MQ.Experience with AWS and cloud-native application development.Docker and Kubernetes.CI/CD and DevOps practices.Experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.Good understanding of LLMs and AI Agents (ChatGPT, Agentic AI, etc.).Experience building or integrating AI-powered applications into production environments.Python experience is a strong plus.
