The role focuses on technical architecture, system conversion strategy, risk mitigation, performance optimization, and stakeholder engagement.Key Responsibilities:Architecture & StrategyDefine and own the overall BW/4HANA upgrade or conversion architectureAssess existing SAP BW landscape (BW 7.x / BW on HANA) and recommend:System ConversionShell ConversionRemote ConversionDesign target-state BW/4HANA architecture, including:Data models (ADSO, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views)Data flow redesign and simplificationIntegration with S/4HANA, ECC, and non‑SAP systemsUpgrade & Conversion ExecutionLead SAP HANA and BW/4HANA upgrade activities, including:SAP Readiness CheckCustom Code Adaptation (SPAU/SPDD)Simplification Item resolutionOversee system activities:SUM / DMO executionUnicode and HANA compatibility handlingEnsure minimal downtime and business continuity during upgradeData Modeling & OptimizationRedesign legacy objects (InfoCubes, DSOs, MultiProviders) into:ADSOsComposite ProvidersOptimize performance using:HANA push‑down logicAdvanced DTPs and transformationsPartitioning and modeling best practicesSecurity, Transport & GovernanceDesign and enforce:Authorizations and Analysis AuthorizationsTransport and landscape strategyNaming conventions and modeling standardsEnsure compliance with SAP‑recommended BW/4HANA best practicesTesting & Go‑Live SupportDefine testing strategy:Unit TestingIntegration TestingUser Acceptance Testing (UAT)Support cutover planning, go‑live, and hypercare activitiesPerform post‑go‑live performance tuning and stabilizationStakeholder EngagementAct as the primary technical architect for business and IT stakeholdersCollaborate with:Functional leadsBasis teamsSAP vendors and system integratorsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to BW development teamsRequired Skills & Experience-Mandatory Skills:10+ years of SAP BW experience5+ years hands‑on experience with SAP BW/4HANAStrong experience in:BW/4HANA upgrades and system conversionsSAP HANA architecture and modelingSAP Readiness Check and Simplification ItemsIn‑depth expertise in:ADSO, Composite Providers, Open ODS ViewsDTPs, Transformations, RoutinesHANA‑optimized modeling conceptsTechnical Knowledge:SAP BW 7.x → BW/4HANA transition toolsCustom code remediationPerformance tuning on SAP HANAIntegration with:S/4HANAECCSAP Datasphere (optional)Third‑party BI tools (Power BI, SAC – good to have)Preferred Qualifications:SAP BW/4HANA CertificationSAP HANA or S/4HANA certificationExperience handling large, complex BW landscapesStrong documentation and presentation skillsSoft Skills:Strong architectural thinking and problem‑solvingExcellent stakeholder communicationAbility to manage technical risks and dependenciesLeadership and mentoring capability
